“Until now, the guru seems to be someone separate from us, but one of the skillful means that accompanies us on the path is the continuous reminder that he is not separate from us. [...] My advice is that you unite your mind with the guru's mind many times. The more often you do this, the better. Needless to say, this experience will change your life.”
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
These teachings on Guru Yoga are a continuation of the Ngondro retreat held in January.
Lama Tsering requests that everyone who wishes to engage in the Ngondro accumulations receive these teachings.
The accumulations should only be started after receiving all the teachings and instructions on the 4 thoughts, refuge and bodhichitta, mandala offering and purification of Vajrasattva (offered in January) and Guru Yoga.
The following may participate in the retreat:
• Everyone who participated in the Ngondro teaching retreat in January.
• Those who are already accumulating Ngondro.
• Those who have already received the Guru Rinpoche empowerment and have not yet begun the accumulations.
Prerequisite: Having received the Guru Rinpoche empowerment from the Dudjom Tersar Ngondro sadhana.
In-person only.
What is Ngondro?
Dudjom Tersar Ngondro consists of a series of profound practices of purification and accumulation of merit, which include refuge, bodhichitta, mandala offering, Vajrasattva practice and Guru Yoga. These practices prepare and mature the practitioner's mind, establishing the internal conditions necessary to receive, comprehend, and realize higher teachings.
It is said that learning Ngöndro is like learning the alphabet, because although these practices are called “preliminary,” they are never abandoned by the practitioner and are applied throughout the spiritual path, until enlightenment.
This method, if applied diligently, purifies obscurations and negative karma, creating conditions for the practitioner to receive higher teachings—such as those of the Great Perfection. For this reason, this retreat is recommended for all those who wish to commit themselves and devote themselves intensely to the spiritual path.
