Parinirvana of His Eminence Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche
Dearest Sangha,
We are writing to let you know of the passing of His Eminence Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche. Ka-nying Shedrub Ling monastery reported: “this morning at 12 minutes past 10 am, Singapore time, His Eminence the fourth Chokgyur Lingpa, Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Mingyur Dewey Dorje Rinpoche passed gently into parinirvana.
Rinpoche was 68 years old. When Rinpoche passed away, all of his brothers and family were gathered around him. Rinpoche remains in tukdam. For the benefit of all beings, we earnestly and steadfastly pray for Rinpoche's rebirth.”
Many teachers and students of Chagdud Gonpa Foundation had the good fortune to connect with His Eminence. His Eminence Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche was one of Tromge Jigme Rinpoche’s most treasured and revered teachers, over decades. Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet His Eminence will have known the extraordinary energy and display of this great master. His wisdom and kindness showed in his generous teachings and activities, and his connections to sangha worldwide. His energy that was like thunder and lightning overcame ordinary minds and phenomena, bringing clarity in the calm after the storm, purifying obstacles.
Tromge Jigme Rinpoche invites sangha to now recall the warmth, joy and brilliance of this master, to try to merge our minds with that of His Eminence, and to pray that we may also develop the fierce courage and inspiration that he lived his life with. May such teachers always return to guide us, and may all beings benefit!
His Eminence Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche was the incarnation of the remarkable 19th-century treasure-revealer Chokgyur Lingpa, and as the lineage holder of the Chokling Tersar among many other great lineages, was one of the most significant masters of Vajrayana for 20th and 21st century practitioners.
