Temple Update - October, 2007

These last few weeks the temple has been a beehive of activity. All the construction workers and staff are making a huge effort to prepare for the upcoming 100,000 Red Tara tsog ceremony, taking place in just ten more days.

Carpenters are sanding the wood floor in the shrineroom, painters are climbing up scaffolding on the exterior of the temple applying the final coat of terracolor, plumbers are installing sinks and drains and downspouts, and the electricians are putting in plugs and switches and provisional lighting.

Meanwhile the sangha is finishing the construction and painting of the puja benches and butterlamp and mandala tables and beginning the massive chore of cleaning up the site.

Ugyen has finished the great wheel of life thangka and is now working on the final phases of the exquisitely detailed protector kings.

Also the mantra rolling crew is working diligently to finish all the mantras for the other four main statues in preparation for Lama Rigdzins visit later this year.

Even though we have a long way to go, it  is exciting to see how all the efforts and support and merit from so many individuals is quickly transforming the building into a functioning temple. The beauty and dignity of the temple is becoming more apparent with each passing day.
