My Dear Sangha,
I am very happy as I write these words, offering to each of you my most loving greeting.
I have excellent news on the progress of the Odsal Ling Temple.
The roof is being put in place! All the parts are already there and being assembled atop the temple. Even as I am writing this letter Lama Norbu is up there figuring out the gutters.
This is marvelous. The temple roof represents the union of heaven and earth. Though never having been seperate, is becoming fully evident now by elegantly curved steel beams in space.
All this has come to fruition due to everyone’s generosity, hard work, faith and patience. Just as Rinpoche always said “drop by drop a bucket fills,” not one drop is insignificant.
Up until now the collective forces of the US and Brazillian sanghas have raised $356,920 which has been fully applied to completing the basic structure. Updated estimates project that $332,920 will complete the construction.
Personally, I am very moved when I walk through the building site. It is truely awesome. So much has been done and yet, we have an immediate shortfall of $20,770 to complete the current phase which includes waterproofing and roofing. Just as your previous donations have helped us to reach this halfway mark, your continued support will assure that the ongoing construction will not be interrupted.
Our goal is to complete the temple by Spring 2008. At that time many great masters from all corners of the earth will join us in Brazil to conduct the consecration ceremonies for both the Padmasambhava Palace at Khadro Ling in Tres Coroas and the Odsal Ling Temple in Sao Paulo. Be sure to mark your calendar, this will be an event you won’t want to miss.
There are many ways for you to contribute to our immediate needs. Please see our “Sacred Stone” campaign presented here on the website. For more information, please write to me, tsering@chagdud.org or contact Rigdzin Ling.
We are are also very happy to announce that Chagdud Khadro will visit Sao Paulo beginning November 12 to give empowerments and teachings. Please check the website for details. In addition I will conduct a teaching and practice Ngöndro retreat, from November 26 to December 4, at the Odsal Ling Retreat Land. Come practice with us.
In closing this letter, I just want to say that Rinpoche himself clearly forged a path to Brazil. With courage and dignity he cut attachment and went where beings could benefit and he turned the wheel of the Dharma. Now each of you can enjoy the garden that grows where his footsteps tread. We wait for you in Brazil.
With love,
Lama Tsering Everest
