The
Temple makes its transition to a sacred place
All the work that was in progress on the
temple was finished just in time for the first annual 100,000
tsog ceremony. The carpenters finished the shrineroom floor,
the plumber got all the toilets and sinks working, the well
digger finished the septic system, the electricians wired
up 108 light bulbs, the propane company installed the kitchen
appliances, the painters finished the shrineroom and the
outside painting, and the sangha finished the puja benches
and moved in.
Nothing
like a large event to make everything come together miraculously,
and the efforts of all involved were tremendous.
The
five large statues looked magnificent with the blue background
painted behind them, and Chagdud Khadro was very happy
with the statue of H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche.
The
large Buddha Shakyamuni statue also captured everyone’s
attention with it’s extraordinary face and the way
the rays of sunlight just touched the top of the crown.
On the last day of the tsog the first spring rains auspiciously
arrived, and the temple felt like it was already making
the transition from a construction site to a holy place.
Although
much finish work and infrastructure installation still
remains to be done, to have the temple at the point of
being able to host a shrineroom full of practitioners
for three days, feels like we are now, at last, in the
completion phase.
